Ian Scott

Ian Scott currently serves as a Football Staff/Coach with UCF. Previously, he was a professional football player with NFL including being selected for the Chicago Bears as the 116th overall choice in 2003. After four seasons in Chicago (2003-06), Ian signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles but was placed on injured reserve before the start of the season and did not appear in a regular season game. He then spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the San Diego Chargers where he played in 16 games and recorded seven starts. Ian also had a standout career in College Football at the University of Florida. On the field at UF, he played in 32 games and recorded 23 starts during his three-year career (2000-02). Among those starts, Scott started the 2001 Sugar Bowl and 2002 Orange Bowl. Statistically, he registered 120 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 18.5 tackles-for-loss, 21 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and five pass deflections.

Following his playing days, Ian spent time as a Business Analyst for JPMorgan Chase & Co. and he worked as an Industrial Engineer for Michelin North America. But his ambition was too remain in a football career that would be in line with his obvious skills and talents. Throughout his seven-year NFL career, he played in 65 games (47 starts) and totaled 112 tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Ian then picked up coaching experience as a Defensive Assistant for Daniel High School in Central, South Carolina and eventually he joined the UCF Football staff. Ian’s goal is to continue on a path that he hopes would ultimately lead to serving as a defensive coach for a professional football franchise within the NFL once again. But, coaching during college football season demanded much of his time. Ian needed help with a comprehensive strategy that would work to keep him on track towards his professional goals as it related to football.
